I don't blame the crims for striking, well what fun is it if there are no policemen to chase you, Wiltshire has closed all but 3 of its stations where the public can get access to a front office and they are going to make some civilian workers redundant.
Its so rare to see a policeman these days I suggest you just make all your forms readily availiable from supermarkets so as members of the public can report them selves for their own offences and do away with the police all together.
If the police want to return to the 60s and 70s when they were respected as real police then they had seriously better consider a national strike with the threat of mass resignation because it won't be long before the likes of Blair decide to scrap the uniformed branch altogether.
Its okay they have enough PCSOs and can give them emergency powers! I went on duty with 3pcs and 6PCSOs the other day we were outnumbered again and they spent most of the day inside.

I go on strike in my own head every now & then. It's the thought that counts don't you know.
